Inspection questions
Which inspection do I need?
If you are buying, selling or living in a finished house, that is a residential home inspection. If the house is still being built, it is a new construction inspection, timed to a stage of the build. A commercial building has its own inspection. If you only want one part of the property looked at, that is a component inspection.
How long does an inspection take?
A typical single family home takes two to three hours on site. Larger or older properties take longer, and a component inspection is much shorter. You are welcome to be there for any of it.
When do I get the report?
Most reports are delivered within 24 to 48 hours of the inspection, with safety concerns and major defects listed first.
Can I add radon, termite or mold testing?
Yes, and it is the usual way they are done. Our own technicians handle them on the same visit, which is why they cost less alongside an inspection than on their own.
Do you do the repairs you find?
No. We inspect and report, and we take no referral fee from contractors, so nothing in the report is written by someone who stands to sell you the fix.
