What Our Inspections Include

Roof & Attic

Our inspectors are trained to look closely at the roof and attic condition to identify any problem areas. Using an Eye Stick with GoPro Camera, our inspectors are able to safely inspect steep roofs with high elevation.

Foundation & Grading

Our inspectors are trained to look closely at the foundation and grading at the home to identify any concern areas that can lead to moisture penetration and mold growth.

Mechanical Systems

Our inspectors thoroughly evaluate all mechanical systems in the home including the Electrical Panel, HVAC, and Water Heater.

Appliances

Our inspectors will thoroughly inspect the appliances at the home and the laundry systems for proper operation and determine what repairs or adjustments will be needed to ensure they work to their full potential.

Plumbing

Your plumbing system is put through rigorous testing during a home inspection. Inspectors thoroughly evaluate and test the faucets, drains, traps, vent stacks and vent pipes to ensure that the plumbing systems are well-maintained and working correctly.

Electrical

During a home inspection, your inspector will thoroughly review the safety and functionality of your electrical system. The inspector will check the outlets, switches and GFCI (ground-fault circuit interrupters) to ensure they are working as intended. Inspectors look for malfunctions or potential issues that may be a danger to residents.

Thermal Imaging

Detecting heat loss with a thermal imaging camera in a modern, empty room.

Thermal imaging helps the inspector to uncover problems that aren’t always visible to the human eye. The thermal camera employs a process that translates the heat signature in your home on a gradient scale, ranging from bright red to dark blue. Higher temperatures will translate as red, while darker colors are triggered by lower temperatures in wet areas.

In analyzing these images, the inspector can detect sources of energy loss, pinpoint dangerous electrical hot spots, flue leaks in the chimney that can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning, locate wood-destroying insects and detect moisture intrusion (which can be a catalyst for mold).

In short, thermal imaging can be an important preventative measure in protecting your home from potential hazards.

NextDay Inspect Environmental Services

Mold Testing

Testing for mold in a damaged wall with a cotton swab.

Mold is organic growth in the building,  moisture is the main cause of mold presence in a building. Therefore, at NextDay Inspect we provide both services; moisture evaluation and mold detection:

  • Moisture Evaluations: Using a moisture meter and infrared camera, the inspector can help identify active leaks or areas with the potential for water intrusion. We will provide recommendations on how to correct these high-risk areas and help you decide if mold sampling would be beneficial at this time.
  • There are two classes of molding sampling;

(a) Swap & Bio-Tape

(b) Air Sampling

  • Air samples can be taken in each of your areas of concern. Laboratory analysis will indicate the types and amount of mold spores in the air if any. Swab samples can also be taken of visible growth on surfaces. The lab results will confirm whether or not the growth is mold, and provide details on the specific type and amount.

Radon Testing

Radon detection: App displays average levels from a monitor.

Radon is a radioactive gas that is known to cause severe health problems of which the most common is lung cancer. This gas can build up indoors, especially in the lower level of your home and put your family at risk.

At NextDay Inspect, we offer Radon testing and provide recommendations for remediation in the case that the level of Radon is above the safe levels as stated by the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) to ensure that your property is safe.

Termite Inspection

When purchasing a property, it is always good to make sure to get a Wood Destroying Organism Inspection, or more commonly known, a termite inspection as they can cause major structural damage to the property. Our termite inspector will look for any current and previous signs of termite or other wood destroying organism in the property.

Asbestos Testing

Damaged drywall revealing exposed fibrous material, likely from pest or water damage, with debris scattered on a concrete floor.

Asbestos is a group of naturally occurring silicates. They have properties that make them useful for insulation or binding materials in buildings. When asbestos becomes damaged or disturbed, the asbestos fibers become airborne and can be inhaled. When inhaled, they enter the respiratory tracts and damage the lungs by leaving scars in the lung tissues.

We provide asbestos testing to determine whether a material in your home contains asbestos.

Air Quality Testing

Pollutants commonly found in indoor air can cause many harmful effects, there is considerable uncertainty about what concentrations or periods of exposure are necessary to produce specific health problems.

People also react very differently to exposure to indoor air pollutants.  It is prudent to try to improve the indoor air quality in your home even if symptoms are not noticeable.

Water Quality Testing

Filling a test tube with tap water for quality analysis.

NextDay Inspect conducts thorough water testing to ensure safety and quality. They test for harmful bacteria like coliform and E. coli, lead contamination from plumbing systems, and nitrite/nitrate levels, often linked to agricultural runoff or septic waste.

Additionally, turbidity is measured to assess water clarity, while pH levels and conductivity are analyzed to determine the water’s acidity and dissolved solid content. This comprehensive approach provides homeowners and businesses with a detailed evaluation of their water quality.

Water Flow Testing

Water flow at a residential property is an important measure to provide comfortable living while preserving a precious resource. Inadequate water flow may lead to frustration and upset or unsanitary living conditions, while excessive water flow might lead to wasted water unnecessarily.

EMF Testing

Towering above, these cellular towers connect the world with their intricate network of antennas and dishes.

We offer electromagnetic field testing or EMF for short. EMF looks for exposure to high and low electromagnetic fields.

The most common sources for high electromagnetic fields include proximity to power lines, transformers or appliances, and flaws in the internal building’s wiring system and stray currents on utility pipes. Exposure to high levels of EMF can cause serious health issues. We use the latest technology to help you detect where there are high levels of EMF in your house.
