No jargon, no surprises. Here is the whole visit, start to finish, so you know what you are booking before you book it.

Three NextDay Inspect inspectors walking up to a house

02

The walk-around

Roof, siding, grading, decks, the garage and the grounds first. The inspector photographs what they find as they go, so the report shows you exactly where each item is.

03

Systems and accessible spaces

The inspector checks accessible electrical, plumbing, heating and cooling components and operates equipment with normal controls when conditions allow. The report identifies areas that could not be inspected and any recommended follow-up.

04

The walkthrough and the report

You see the main findings in the house itself. The written report follows online with photos, priorities and what to do about each item.

On attending. You are welcome for the whole visit or just the walkthrough at the end. The walkthrough is where most questions get answered, and your agent is welcome too.

Rockville, rambler to high rise

Rockville's own neighborhood plans cover ground from Twinbrook and the West End through the newer Town Center and King Farm. A rambler finished in the 1950s, a Town Center high rise, and a King Farm townhouse each carry different systems and a different foundation, so the inspection is scoped to the specific house rather than to Rockville's history as the county seat.

Basements finished after the sale

A Twinbrook or West End house from the 1950s or 1960s has often had its basement finished well after the original construction, sometimes more than once. The inspection reads the foundation walls behind and around that finished space for cracking and past water penetration wherever they remain visible, checks the crawlspace or sump pump if either is present, and traces grading and downspout discharge around the house to see whether water is moving away from the foundation or toward it. Framing near any rear addition gets a second look for how it ties into the original structure.

Did you know

For a property within city limits, start with the City of Rockville permit office when researching alterations. Confirm the jurisdiction for a Rockville mailing address before requesting records. A home inspection evaluates visible condition rather than certifying permit approval.

Shared systems in newer buildings

A Town Center condominium inspection focuses on the accessible systems serving the unit and the agreed interior scope. A King Farm or Fallsgrove townhouse may also include its own roof, exterior and foundation, depending on ownership and safe access. Confirm the property type and association responsibilities before booking, and arrange access to utility equipment. Common building systems and elevators require a separate scope.

Did you know

Montgomery County's radon home-sale guide explains testing requirements and exemptions, including condominium and cooperative units. Check the property's ownership form and transaction requirements; townhouse appearance alone does not establish whether an exemption applies.

Home inspections around Rockville

Rockville sits in Montgomery County, and the same inspectors cover the whole county. Every place below has its own page.

Rockville home inspection, King Farm to Twinbrook

What Rockville buyers ask about radon, condos and the Town Center.

Since Rockville has its own city government, where should we search for permit history: city hall or the county?

For a property within Rockville city limits, start with the City of Rockville Inspection Services Division for building and trade permit records. Confirm the jurisdiction first: a Rockville mailing address does not by itself establish city boundaries. Bring available renovation dates and records to discuss alongside the condition inspection.

Do I need a radon test before I can sell my Rockville townhouse?

Montgomery County generally requires a radon test before a single-family home or townhouse sale, subject to exemptions. Units in a condominium regime or cooperative are exempt from this sale requirement. The County guide specifies testing within one year before settlement and sharing results with buyer and seller. Confirm the requirements for your transaction. Radon testing is a separately selected service; ask about scheduling it alongside your home inspection.

What does the inspection cover inside a King Farm or Fallsgrove townhouse?

For a townhouse, the inspection covers the accessible home systems and structural areas within the agreed scope, including its roof, exterior and foundation where applicable. Inside, the inspector checks electrical, plumbing, heating and cooling components and visible interior conditions. Clarify whether the property is fee-simple or a condominium and which components the association maintains; shared walls and concealed spaces have access limits.

Our Rockville Town Center unit is in a high rise. Does the inspection include the building's roof or elevators?

A single-unit condominium inspection does not include a whole-building evaluation of the roof, elevators or common systems. It focuses on accessible systems serving the unit and the agreed interior scope. Arrange management access to equipment where needed, and ask your agent about association maintenance records or a reserve study. The report identifies what was inspected and any limits.

Is a 1950s Twinbrook rambler with a finished basement harder to inspect than a newer King Farm townhouse?

The preparation differs. For a Twinbrook rambler, bring renovation dates and arrange access around finished lower spaces, utility equipment and attic openings. For a King Farm townhouse, clarify exterior ownership and shared-system responsibilities. Finishes can conceal parts of either property. The inspection examines visible, accessible conditions and documents areas that could not be checked.

What should I prepare for a home inspection in Rockville?

Provide renovation dates and the actual property type, whether in Twinbrook, King Farm or another community. Arrange access to utility equipment and attic openings.
